# Always know where you are

A border marks the focused window, inactive windows can dim, and gaps go from none at all to generous. Windows size themselves around the Dock, so nothing ends up underneath it.

- **Focus border:** Choose its color and width. The same color marks the active tab and the focused column in the overview.
- **Dim inactive windows:** Everything but the focused window steps back.
- **Gaps:** From 0 to 40 points between windows, with the same or a separate space at the screen edges.

**Scrolling Windows is optional.** It stays off until you turn it on. While it's on, window snapping and automatic window snapshots pause, and restoring a workspace turns it off; the strip saves its own session instead.
